Derico Alves in Concert: A Tribute to the Masters of Forró
Derico Alves is a singer, songwriter, and accordionist from Pernambuco, born in Recife and raised in a traditional family of musicians from Garanhuns. With more than two decades of experience, he has built a solid career dedicated to celebrating Northeastern Brazilian music and the rich cultural heritage of Pernambuco. Throughout his career, he has collaborated and recorded with some of Brazil’s most renowned artists, including Sivuca, Dominguinhos, Morais Moreira, Quinteto Violado, and Elba Ramalho. Since his first international tour in 1998, Derico has developed a strong connection with European audiences, performing at more than 50 festivals across over 20 countries. His music has been featured at major international events, including the Montreux Jazz Festival and the United Nations International Bazaar. In 2012, he was invited by TV Globo to perform at the Brazilian Day celebration, sharing the stage with Paula Fernandes before an audience of more than 60,000 people. His repertoire honors the great masters of forró and Northeastern Brazilian popular music while also embracing original compositions and the work of emerging artists from Pernambuco. With contagious energy and deep respect for tradition, Derico Alves continues to keep the spirit and soul of forró alive wherever he performs.

Dagens hovedbegivenhed er koncerten Rasmus Dissing & Flamencolegenderne – et intenst og poetisk møde mellem den danske sangtradition og nogle af Spaniens store flamencokunstnere. Denne dag fejrer vi samtidig den grønlandske sanger Rasmus Lyberths 75-årsdag, og vi er meget stolte og taknemmelige over, at Grønlands store stemme medvirker som koncertens helt særlige gæst. I 2024 inviterede flamencodanser Kirstine Hastrup Rasmus Lyberth til flamencoens vugge, Jerez de la Frontera. Her blev hans grønlandske sang forenet med nogle af flamencoens store kunstnere på Teatro Villamarta – en af flamencoens vigtigste scener. Det blev et helt unikt og magisk møde mellem Rasmus Lyberth og flamencoen. Et grænseløst kunstnerisk møde mellem Grønland og Andalusien; mellem to stærke kulturer, der begge bærer naturen, historien, smerten og livskraften i sig. Et møde, som gjorde et stærkt indtryk, og som Jerez sent vil glemme. To bambusfløjter. To kulturer. Én musikalsk rejse. De traditionelle japanske bambusfløjter shinobue og shakuhachi har hver deres historie, særlige klang og musikalske udtryk. Selvom begge instrumenter stammer fra Japan, har de gennem århundrederne udviklet sig i forskellige musikalske retninger. Ved denne særlige koncert mødes de to fløjters stemmer og bygger bro mellem Japan og Danmark i en musikalsk samtale på tværs af landegrænser. Glæd dig også til særlige gæsteoptrædener med dans og japansk bambusfløjte, når japansk kultur fejres gennem musik og bevægelse.Medvirkende: Yasukazu Kano — ShinobueKiku Day — Shakuhachi Special Guests:Keiko Tamaru — dansAmi Shudo — japansk bambusfløjte Yasukazu Kano(Shinobue player, instructor and music producer) Yasukazu Kano was born in Tokyo in 1963. After studying in New York, he rediscovered his Japanese cultural roots and returned to Japan. In 1987, he joined the renowned taiko ensemble Kodo, performing more than 1,000 concerts in twenty countries, including Carnegie Hall.Since leaving Kodo in 1997, Kano has dedicated himself to developing the artistic possibilities of the ancient bamboo flute, the shinobue, creating his own distinctive playing method. He made his major-label debut with Yamaha in 2005 and has since released CDs, instructional materials and books.Kano has performed more than 2,000 concerts in over thirty countries and has composed music for television, film and theatre, including NHK’s NIPPON NO WAGEI. He also leads shinobue workshops worldwide and continues to promote the instrument through performances, collaborations and educational videos. https://yasukazu.com/en Kiku Day(shakuhachi) Kiku Day is an ethnomusicologist and internationally acclaimed shakuhachi player. She studied the traditional honkyoku repertoire in Tokyo for eleven years and has dedicated her career to both preserving the instrument’s traditions and expanding its contemporary repertoire. She also crafts some of her own bamboo instruments.Kiku performs worldwide, including at Carnegie Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, and has taught shakuhachi for more than twenty-five years. She holds a PhD in ethnomusicology and has published extensively on the shakuhachi.She founded the European Shakuhachi Society and the European Shakuhachi Summer School, and chaired the Executive Committee of the World Shakuhachi Festival in London in 2018. Keiko Tamaru(dancer) Keiko Tamaru is a dancer, expressive artist and founder of Planet Dance, a movement practice inspired by nature, Ki and the harmony of life.Raised in an environment rooted in natural healing and music, she has developed a unique approach to movement that reconnects body, mind and spirit. She regularly collaborates with improvising musicians and artists in Japan and internationally, creating spontaneous and immersive performances.Based in Kyoto, she also leads workshops and talks on Planet Dance, conscious living and hemp culture.

Workshoppen er åben for alle – uanset om du er nybegynder eller allerede har musikalsk erfaring. Ingen tidligere erfaring er nødvendig. Vi tager til Djurs sommerland og prøver de forskellige forlystelser. Selvfølgelig kun dem, man har lyst til at prøve. Man kan også hygge sammen med andre på dagen. Vh Joakim
ANDERS KOPPEL & MARIE CARMEN KOPPEL DUO
Aftenens koncert i Tiny Church giver en enestående mulighed for at høre Anders og Marie Carmen Koppel sammen som duo - sang og Hammond orgel. Det samarbejde, som de to - far og datter - har haft sammen siden Marie var barn, har igennem årene antaget talrige former - men aldrig som duo. Men nu skal det være! Aftenens repertoire vil spænde vidt - fra deres egne sange til nogle af de gospelsange, som Marie tog med sig hjem til Danmark efter et længere ophold i New York. De to musikere vil selvfølgelig fortælle lidt om musikken.
