Kimjang with Se Eun Lee
Kimjang is a Korean kimchi making event where communities gather to make large batches of kimchi after harvesting the fall season's veggies to prepare for the winter. Kimchi is a traditional side dish and comes in many different types.
At Søndasskolen for this kimchi-making workshop you will learn both the methods and the culturally-situated history of kimchi fermentation. You will get your hands in the red kimchi sauce and take an active part in the production. By the end of the afternoon you will bring home your own baechu kimchi to share with your loved ones.
We will ask you to please bring your own clean container for kimchi that fits a whole napa cabbage (and sauce). Søndagsskolen will take place outside so please bring a sweater if the summer turns colder and some clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.
Se Eun Lee, a Korean adoptee, organizer and Grøn Madhåndværker who is passionate about making kimchi that is deeply rooted in the cultural and political history of Korean food. She has been collaborating with Orupdal Jordbrug, a regenerative farm in Lejre, to grow Napa cabbage that is suited for the Danish climate and has great flavour for kimchi-making. She’s been the host of pop-ups, food stalls at Det Grønne Loppemarked, panelist at Grønt Marked and BIPOC farmtrip organizer.

Søndagsskolen is a recurring informal school at Alle Tiders. Every month we invite a talented artist, farmer, chef, communicator or craftsperson to teach us something new about the world around us. Søndagsskolen is created and curated in collaboration with visual artist Mia Carl. Everyone is welcome.
